Lots of people don’t want to get started with their life coaching business because they don’t rip people off. Their fear of failing to provide value in their coaching session keeps them from getting on the court. Sure it’s much easier to continue to coach people for free, but unfortunately most people who get free coaching never are really committed to the process. Without commitment, the likelihood of getting a great result or change in your life is close to nil.
How Do You Avoid Ripping Off Your Life Coaching Clients?
.
1. Recognize Coach Performance Anxiety for what it is. It’s about your own fears, hopes and aspirations. It’s not about your client. You can only focus on one thing at a time, so you can’t be focused on your client and yourself simultaneously. Next time you feel nervous, let the feeling serve as a reminder that you are making it about yourself and choose to re-focus. Remember why you chose this career.
2. Be committed to your clients’ results on every call. Allow them to give you a brief update at the beginning of the call so you can step into their world. Then as soon as possible, ask them what result the want to achieve during the session.
3. Hold your clients accountable to their goals and vision. It’s easy to coach someone from call to call without having the continuity required to achieve the bigger picture. Be a stand for your clients to get the results they want.
4. Taking ongoing training. Continue to grow and be a leader who goes first when it comes to personal development and continuing education in your career.
Make Sure Your Clients Are Getting Their Coaching Needs Met
.
Above all, check in with your clients on a regular basis. Be open to feedback, either positive or negative, about your coaching performance. Make sure you follow up by getting coaching or mentoring for yourself. Remember, the cure for Coach Performance Anxiety is to stay focused on your clients.
