It sounds silly, but in some ways life coaching is like shopping for clothes. Whether you are a man or a woman, we all have our beliefs about coaching and how it fits into our lives. These beliefs, although maybe not something we’re conscious of, affect our interactions with our clients and potential clients. In effect, these beliefs affect whether our coaching career will be successful or not.
Using Shopping Tips To Get Better Life Coaching Results
.
1. Be aware of your own personal style. My first exposure to shopping was with my dad. He had the mindset of going out, finding what you need, celebrating with an ice-cream and moving on. Others like to browse through every window. Match your style with the people you are with; i.e. your clients.
2. Be willing to try on new styles. Not every outfit is appropriate for every occasion, just as not every coaching style will work with every client. Remember, you don’t have to buy it. You can just try it on to have fun. It’s hard to tell what type of result you’ll get by looking at something on a hanger.
3. Be open to new ideas. Get perspective from people whose opinion you value. Be sure you are conscious of the ideas behind their suggestions, not just your beliefs about what the person is suggesting.
The Number 1 Mistake Coaches Make When Shopping
.
The most common mistake coaches make when shopping for life coaching training, is to ‘try on’ new courses from their current perspective. Most of this results to their beliefs about the best coaching styles, what they can afford to invest in terms of time and financial resources. You can bargain hunt, but make sure get what you really need in terms of quality and results you want to see in your own life.
