Health Coaching: How to Help People Understand Why They Need a Personal Nutrition Coach

Health coaching is really a super-niche.  And while there is a lot of attention in the media about health coaching, most people don’t understand the value of a personal nutrition coach.  When you think about it, our approach to our physical health is very similar to how we approach any other goal.  Our beliefs and our philosophies determine our action, which determines what types of results we’ll get.  The biggest reason why people need a personal nutrition coach is to help them determine what’s really driving their behavior in relation to health.

It is Essential as a Personal Nutrion Coaching to Convey to Your Client that Underlying Beliefs Drive Behaviors

.

What most people fail to communicate in the health coaching industry is that unless you change the underlying beliefs you will continue to do the same things and get the same results.  That’s why most diets fail and why people need a personal nutrition coach to help identify the limiting beliefs that are preventing them from getting the results they want.

Focusing on Action and Accountability May Not be Your Best Strategy as Personal Nutrition Coach

.

Most coaches in the health coaching industry focus on action and accountability, and wonder why their clients aren’t getting the results they want.  Become a personal nutrition coach who is committed to challenge the underlying principles, beliefs and rules that most people in our society hold to be true.  By looking at the health of the average person in the United States it’s obvious that our beliefs are not consistent with the vitality everyone wishes to have.

When You are Practicing Health Coaching Drive Home the Pain Your Client Will Continue to Feel if they Don’t Change Their Ways

.

Most personal nutrition coaches know that the keys to motivation are to move away from pain and move toward pleasure.  The time people are most likely to consider health coaching is when they are suffering from poor health, low energy, or disease.  It’s up to you as their coach to really drive home the pain they will continue to experience if they don’t make changes in order to motivate them to do what they otherwise might not consider doing.

Remember, that results are ultimately determined by our beliefs.  In health coaching, and more specifically as a personal nutrition coach, we need to be committed enough to our clients to go beyond the basics and get to the core issues.
