Becoming a coach needs to come from a place of authenticity. How authentic are you living your life? Your job as a coach is to help people get their answers from within themselves by asking the right questions. Integrity and authenticity indeed are powerful skills a good coach must posses.

As a Connector and Harmonizer (from the Strengths Finder, these are two of my five top strengths), I can appreciate the benefit of a conflict resolution coach. Your three areas can be very helpful to help people understand what may be driving their unspoken expectations. Often, when our expectations are threatened or disappointed, we lock into a position on non-compromise.

Pretty bizarre, Dave!

That is, strikingly out of the ordinary.

Most people don’t think about how integral a coach is to their development at all stages of life, beginning with parents, moving on to teachers, bosses and supervisors.

For those of us who are entrepreneurs, it’s especially important to seek out our coaches and mentors because they simply are not part of the landscape like a parent at home, or a teacher at school is.

You are so correct, today our educational system is totally geared towards memorizing facts, and not really learning how to learn. Real wisdom is being able to make sounds decisions with good judgment, knowing what long term effects will be, and looking at the big picture in life. Today, many people don’t have anyone to look towards for this wisdom, even parents who are many times too busy to teach it if they even wanted to. We need more life coaches.

Sounds like great advice. For nearly a decade I coached new entrepreneurs and every now and then I think about getting some new training and going back into it, but never took the time to research reputable training options. These are great and being a dog owner I totally can relate – I think I will focus on #2 – I am always looking at my dog (Maggie) as she naps most of the day and think boy is she living the dream…LOL
