“Online coaching is not for me.”  That’s what I said as early as a year ago when someone told me about online life coach certification training.  The last thing I want to do is to de-humanize the world of life coaching by making people talk to a computer.  Not to mention that online coaching is hard and technical.  I can’t figure it out.  Online life coach certification training is probably for ‘propeller-heads’ who like to think of themselves as coaches but couldn’t be a good life coach if they tried.

During my online life coach certification process, I’ve learned that there are three keys to getting coaching clients via online coaching.

First Key to The Online Coaching Business:  Get More Clients

It seems like this should go without saying, but online coaching businesses get more clients.  It’s easier to generate coaching leads.  It’s easier to get the word out to more people that are actively searching for what you can give them.  The online coaching business is the easiest way possible to match up buyers of coaching and online coaches.

Second Key to The Online Coaching Business:  Make More Money Per Purchase

During my online life coach certification training I learned that I could actually make more money every time a client bought coaching from me because I could coach more than one client at a time (in an even more intimate way, in fact) not to mention that it cost me less to get the same information in the hands of my new online coaching clients.  Why?  Because I didn’t have to print and ship all the cd’s and workbooks anymore!  Everything was delivered electronically for pennies on the dollar.

Third Key to The Online Coaching Business:  Get Clients to Purchase More Often

Another thing I learned during my online life coach certification training was that it became easier to get the same clients to buy again and again from me because they could afford my programs more easily and I had more time to provide more cool programs for them as well.  I had the time to produce more cool stuff because I wasn’t doing as much one on one coaching and I had more time to think about what my clients really needed.

Online Coaching Training Courses: Why Online Coaching Certification Isn’t Worth the Paper It’s Written On

Just search for online coaching courses and you’ll find countless courses that offer online coaching certification.  Some in as little as one day!  But will online coaching certification get you what you want?  Is the only thing that’s keeping you from having all the clients you want a matter of being certified?  What do you really need from an online coaching program?

What usually happens is that coaches who are trying to “do things right” feel that they need some type of certification, online coaching certification or otherwise, before they can start their coaching business.  After they complete their online coaching course, they find that certification doesn’t equate business.  I’ve only been asked by one potential client what my qualifications were.  I knew that information was not going to help him make a decision, so I put my emphasis on getting him to schedule a free session with me.

Unfortunately, after coaches receive their online coaching certification, they still don’t have clients.  And while online coaching courses can be valuable, the problem many coaches have is that they have to transform from being an ordinary person and into a coach who can walk on water.  How do they do that?

So What’s A Coach To Do?  Online Coaching Courses Do Not Provide the Mentoring You Need to Get to the Next Level

The key distinction between successful coaches and those who are looking for the next online coaching certification to get them where they need to be is mentoring.  A strictly online coaching course simply won’t have the one on one mentoring and accountability to take most people to the next level.  No one can see the middle of their own back without a mirror.  We all have blind spots that keep us from taking that next step.  If we have someone to show us what that is, then we can navigate around it.

Unfortunately, this is the one area where coaches try to save money and either get coaching for free from their peers, or try to boost their credentials through taking more online coaching courses and getting that next online coaching certification.  But there is a point when you know all you need to know to getting into action, yet you’re not seeing results.   When this happens, it may be time to try something you’ve never tried and get a mentor to guide you to that next level.

Life Coaching Education From the Future: Become a Cyber-Coach With Online Coaching Certification

I have to admit that after all the life coaching education I’ve received, I’m finally becoming a bit of a cyber coach.  I’m, for the first time in my life, seriously looking into online coaching.  Certification in the world of life coaching education has always been high quality, but very seldom do you hear about educating coaches to do a ton of business on the Internet.  I never thought I’d do it because I’m really so much into the whole ‘organic’ idea of coaching.  My life coaching education taught me that technology isn’t the answer to life, the universe, and everything coaching, but in this economy it’s becoming not just a ‘should’ to go Internet but a ‘must’ to do it.

Why Bother Getting an Online Coaching Certification?

Why is it now a must for life coaching education to teach us how to do business on the Internet?  one simple answer: it’s cheaper.  
  • Coaching on the Internet costs $ .0005 every time I upload a video.  
  • Coaching on the Internet costs $ .00001 for every bulk email I send.
  • Internet coaching makes working from anywhere in the world possible.
  • The Internet allows you to connect with more people without any extra costs.
  • The Internet allows you to be face to face with people that may never have the money or resources to be able to fly out to see you (think about Internet video).

Where was life coaching education when all this was developing?  

Now that we are getting squeezed by less demand for our coaching services in the recession, we’ve got to figure out how to offer the same service for a much lower cost, and for many coaches, their old model of doing seminars and one on one telephone based coaching is not going to work if they offer the services for 30-40% less.
That’s why ‘scaling up’ your coaching practice is now a must, and the Internet can be your buddy in causing that to happen without loosing your shirt.  That’s exactly what my company is doing with our online coaching certification.

So create your own online coaching certification by exploring these types of services for yourself right now and see how much more value you can add as a cyber coach, and then pass the overhead savings on to your customers.  If you are reaching enough coaching leads, then you’ll get more customers and make up the cost of your discount.  Once you do that, you’ll be ready to market online.  Life coaching education and online coaching certification never sounded better than at this time in our history!
