Make Speaking Part Of Your Life Coach Career

Speaking On Your Own Stage Will Boost Your Life Coach Career | Image by cloudaveIf you have a life coach career, you probably already have most of your plans laid out for sales and marketing for your business in the upcoming year. You might be planning on doing internet marketing with a blog, a website, or a newsletter. You might be considering free teleseminars or podcasts. And many life coach’s careers also get a marketing boost from speaking at events.

Speaking On Someone Else’s Stage

Speaking on someone else’s stage can be a particularly good marketing opportunity early on in your life coach career. You don’t have to put on the event and you don’t need a big list of your own clients. What you do need is a service that will benefit the clients of the person who is putting on the event. Get in contact with and then get to know other coaches or consultants whose niches are complimentary to yours. Look for people who might be good joint venture partners for you in your life coach career and who are planning an event. Be really creative about this. Find ways to make your services relevant to as many people as possible and pitch the possibility of you speaking as an added benefit for their customers. As an example, a health and wellness coach might be welcome on the stage of a business coach, a career coach, a parenting coach, a travel consultant, and many others. This is a great way to get exposure and even to increase your list and possibly make some sales, too.

Speaking On Your Own Stage Will Boost Your Life Coach Career

Speaking on your own stage is potentially a very important part of your life coach career, and a very different animal from speaking on someone else’s stage. Both the glory and the responsibility are yours. If you are putting on the event, the bulk of the speaker time is probably yours. Or at the very least you are the moderator or master of ceremonies so you need to plan a lot of content and activities to keep your audience interested. If you are organizing your own event, you probably have a list of clients and potential clients to whom you will market it. It’s also an opportunity to grow your list with attendees brought by other speakers who you invite to share your stage. Of course, you are free to sell your products from the stage without approval from anyone else.

No matter whose stage you are speaking on, speaking is an opportunity to generate leads, grow your list, sell your products and potentially find clients. If you already including speaking in your working life, congratulations. If you aren’t, clear up what’s stopping you and get your message out to the world.

Stop Whining And Get Moving In Your Life Coach Career

Motivation to your life coaching career | Image by somethingneedtobedoneYou say your life coach career is really important to you. You say you want more clients, more income, more success. But what happens when that’s all you do? You say you want these things, you want to make progress in your career. So are you? How long have you been complaining about not making progress while at the same time, not taking action to change what you say you want to change?

The Plateau

Progress in any dimension of life often involves plateaus. Weight loss is a great example. Someone get’s really disgusted with the way they look or feel and loses 10 or 15 pounds. Then they hit a plateau and stop losing. It’s a natural part of the process, but it’s frustrating and unless they find a way to boost their motivation, they will give up. Your life coach career can have the same problem. You push yourself out of your comfort zone and get a few clients to prove to yourself or to someone else that you can do it. But then you’ve conquered that. You’ve met whatever need was driving your original motivation. Now what?

A Life Coach Career Needs Motivation To Progress

Think back to when you started coaching. What was life coaching about for you? What did this particular career choice give you? What needs were you meeting by taking on the challenge? Now think about what’s changed. If you are stuck on a career plateau, chances are you are meeting your basic survival needs for certainty, significance, variety and love at pretty high levels and your motivation has waned. So you need to find new motivation for taking the next steps in your life coach career. Picture what you want in your future. Make it real in your mind and your body. Then dig deep, journal, visualize, work your partner or your coach, do whatever you need to do. Find what you need inside yourself for motivation to take the actions and become the person you need to be to get off your plateau.

The plateau is a common reason that novice coaches end up giving up their life coaching career dream. If that’s where you are, it’s time to make a choice. Find a way to move on to the next level in your professional growth or stop whining and retreat to the comfort zone of your old life.

Give this strategy a try and see for yourself that it works. If you liked this coaching tip, leave a comment or use the handy bookmark buttons below to share it with others on Facebook, Twitter, Digg, etc. Thanks!

Life Coach Career: Are You A Glutton For Punishment?

Does Gluttony Keep You Playing Small In Your Life Coach Career? | Image by ligoranoreese.netYour life coach career is a terrific place to experience the pangs and pleasures of gluttony—the sixth in our series of the seven deadly sins in your coaching business. According to wikipedia, St Gregory the Great said that “one may succumb to the sin of gluttony” by several different means, including time (when), quality, stimulants, and quantity. So how do those translate into characteristics of your life coach career? Check it out and see if you are a glutton in either of the following two ways in your attitude and approach to your business.

Are You A Glutton For Punishment?

.

One of the most common problems for coaches is spending huge numbers of hours coaching with very little to show for it in terms of income. If you are just beginning, cut yourself some slack while you coach endlessly to hone your skills. But if you are an established coach and this describes you, you are a glutton for punishment! Sure it felt great to help people when you started coaching. The more people the better, right? Well yes. Except….. Sooner or later you realize that the pleasure you get from helping, and the stimulation, the high if you will, that you get from coaching people in transforming their lives, is no longer enough. You need to be transforming your own life as well, by making your life coach career successful. So stop indulging this form of gluttony, get off your butt and find out how to get those people enrolled at a high enough price point that you can make a decent living in your career of being a coach.

Does Gluttony Keep You Playing Small In Your Life Coach Career?

.

Another presentation of gluttony shows up in coaches who don’t have enough confidence to actually coach people. For them, it is about the never-ending search for more information and more knowledge, so they will finally feel they know enough to coach real clients. This, of course, is a trap, since you can never know it all. And for these coaches, it isn’t truly about not knowing enough, it’s about an internal dialogue which results in playing very small in their life coach career. You can’t play a big game if you are too afraid to get on the field. But you can trick yourself into thinking you are playing big in your career because you are always busy, always doing, always learning. If you fall into this category, take action to just start coaching. That’s the only way to have an actual life coach career.

Give this strategy a try and see for yourself that it works. If you liked this coaching tip, leave a comment or use the handy bookmark buttons below to share it with others on Facebook, Twitter, Digg, etc. Thanks!

Advanced Blogging Techniques To Boost Your Life Coach Career

Boost Your Life Coach Career through Advanced Blogging Techniques | Image by Maria Reyes-McDavisWhat are you doing to make your life coach career super successful? Do you give talks? Teleseminars? How do you find leads to whom you can offer complimentary sessions? If you are not doing marketing online and writing a client-attracting blog, you may be missing out on a huge group of people who are your potential clients and who desperately need your help. So don’t be intimidated–get started writing!

What To Write About

.

There are two main guides for choosing the subjects you write about in your blog. First, write about what interests you. If you are writing about something you feel passionate about, your passion will come through and your readers will respond to it. Enjoy yourself and be involved with what you are writing. Write about what it’s like to have a life coach career. Base your blog on a film or show you found inspiring or thought-provoking. Use your own personal experience to illustrate some learning you have had. Or talk about how you handled a particular problem or issue in your coaching. Second, find out what your clients and potential clients want to hear about. If your life coach career is focused on coaching within a particular niche, articles within that niche are a safe bet. With or without a niche, survey your readers, see what’s being discussed on related forums and see what questions people have. Then use those as the subject matter for your blog.

How Your Writing Style Affects Your Life Coach Career

.

If you haven’t been reading blogs written by other people in your field, read some. See what style of writing appeals to you. Does a more scholarly academic approach hold your interest? Or do you enjoy a more informal or folksy style? What length of article are you comfortable with? What sort of format looks good to you? Experiment and see what feels good to write. Different styles will appeal to different clients and what appeals to you is probably consistent with your own innate style of communication. So write in a style you enjoy reading. If you can inject some of your own humor and personality into your writing, so much the better. That will increase your chances of filling your practice with individuals who resonate with your coaching style, and make your life coach career more rewarding for you and your clients.

Over the life of your life coach career, your blog will be a growing resource on your expanding coaching knowledge and experience. In the shorter term, though, blogging is fast becoming a necessary part of marketing your business and helping your ideal clients find you on line.

Life Coaching Business Tips to Boost Your Life Coach Career: How to Get Clients to Show Up For Your Workshops and Teleclasses in Droves

One strategy to increase your life coaching business is to provide value through workshops, teleclasses and free sessions. It seems like a relatively easy way to boost your life coach career, but the difficulty come in getting prospective clients to show up. What do you do when you spend hours preparing a presentation and no one shows? Before you give up on your life coach career, take heart. Here are some life coaching business tips to get clients to show up in droves.

Prepare your Marketing Piece Using Bullets if You Are Serious about Your Life Coach Career

e

When you’re writing a marketing piece for your life coaching business, you are trying to get people to take the next action step. The easiest way to start is by writing the bullets. You know your own program, and it’s easy to get past writer’s block. If you are serious about your life coach career, plan on spending at least two hours. Once this part is complete, the rest of the marketing communication will come through quickly.

Find Success in Your Life Coaching Business by Making Each Bullet Count

e

The key to success in your life coaching business marketing is to make every bullet extremely compelling. There are 3 components that need to be included in each bullet if you are serious about taking your life coach career to the next level:

  • Suggest a benefit
  • Suggest instant gratification or instant results.
  • Suggest some type of fascination or interest.

Expand Your Life Coach Career by Peaking Prospective Client’s Interest

e

Usually the hardest part of writing your life coaching business marketing piece is to find the fascinating or interesting part that peaks your client’s interest and compels them to ask for more information. You have to leave something out and create mystery. One example is “Where Never to Sit on an Airplane.” Are you going to at least skim that article so you know where you should sit? And why? This bullet implies immediate gratification if you read the article, and a definite benefit. When you use some type of ‘magic bullets’ in your marketing plan, your life coach career will naturally expand. And you can find examples on most magazine covers.

So even if it takes you a few hours to write 10 bullets, your life coaching business will attract more people marketing in this way than any other type of writing. That’s because most people just go straight to the bullets. If they’re still interested they might read your testimonials, but few people will sign up based on your bio. Don’t go too crazy and make your benefits seem too grandiose. Grab people’s attention and prove your claims, then watch new clients find their way into your life coach career.

How to Become a Life Coach Who is Successful: Why Your State of Mind is So Important in Taking Your Life Coach Career to the Next Level

A lot of people wonder how to become a life coach and what’s the secret to a successful life coach career. More important than how to become a life coach and what classes to take to help you get to the next level in your life coach career is your state of mind. Your state of mind is the key to the quality of actions you’ll take and the results you’ll get.

How State of Mind Plays a Part in Your Life Coach Career

Why is state so important in figuring out how to become a life coach? If you are in a confident and intelligent state the action you take will be confident and intelligent. How will others perceive you in this confident state? Confident, of course. And if your actions are powerful and confident, your results are more likely to be powerful and confident. This tends to become a positive cycle. As you start seeing positive results, you will gain confidence which will help you go into an even more confident state of mind. It’s easy to see how this can affect your life coach career.

How to Become a Life Coach with a Negative State of Mind

Will a negative state of mind affect your ability to figure out how to become a life coach? If you are in a fearful state of mind, the action you take might be timid, if any. If the action you take is low quality, you’ll get low quality results. Just as there can be a positive spiral effect by taking actions in a positive state, there can be a negative spiraling affect. A depressed state of mind…will lead to low quality actions. As your mind notices a low level of results, you will be less motivated to take action and the quality of action will be even lower. This will lead to more negative action and more negative results, which will definitely decrease your effectiveness in your life coach career.

A Life Coach Career Needs More than One Success

The key to how to become a life coach is to repeat your successes and create a destiny… Key actions taken over time create success. Anyone can do something for a day. But just like you can’t go to the gym once and become a body builder, you can’t expect to create a major shift in your life coach career overnight. In order to create a different peer group, get different result, and create a different life you must learn how to perform at your best. That means anytime, anywhere, and under any circumstances.

How to Become a Life Coach Who is Successful: Rituals

Because your state of mind when left to its own devices is unpredictable, how do you guarantee that you get the success in your life coach career you desire? If you want to know how to become a life coach who gets the results you want on a consistent basis, you must ritualize your most valuable states of mind. Just like brushing your teeth before bed, you’ll want to get into peak state before your go to work. Combine getting into state with another activity that you already do, to link them together and make sure it happens. And just like the results you get from going to the gym consistently over time produce, the successes you get from consistently getting into a great state will build on each other.

Your Life: the School of Coaching and How to Use it to Advance Your Life Coach Career

What is The Real School of Coaching?

The real school of coaching is your life, and what you do with it.  No matter what you do, life will always offer the next life coaching lesson and give you a chance to improve your life coaching skills.

Your life can’t be separate from your life coach career everything you do in one area of your life impacts every other area.  like a J.O.B. How do you know you can help others handle their challenges? How do you know you can make a difference for others through your life coach career? How do you really know if you have the “know-how” to be a coach?  The answer comes from applying knowledge you learn from coaches training classes and turning your own life into a school of coaching.  Here’s 3 simple steps to get you started:

Step 1 to Turning Your Life Into a School of Coaching for Your Life Coach Career: Look for Opportunities to Grow

Any confrontation with someone, anything that stresses you out, that causes you to miss out on the success you dream of; are all opportunities for you to learn new skills. Skills that will be valuable to people who are part of your life coach career. We tend to attract people who have similar problems to those we have, and to really be prepared to coach someone we should be at least one step ahead of them. Otherwise, we aren’t leading. You might even call this scenario “the blind leading the blind.”

Step 2 to Turning Your Life Into a School of Coaching for Your Life Coach Career: Get Coaching for Yourself

Areas we need to work on tend to be filled with blind spots. Be open enough to really work on ways to improve your skills. My own coach can see my patterns and solutions so quickly that I have a whole new perspective on family gatherings. I used to refer to them as personal growth retreats; but now I can actually relax and enjoy myself instead of just trying to get by. And how has this affected my life coach career? I am more confident, I can see people’s patterns more easily, and my clients are getting results much faster when coaching them on family relationships. I’m ready!

Step 3 to Turning Your Life Into a School of Coaching for Your Life Coach Career: Stay in Coaching

I recently took a month off from coaching because I didn’t feel like I had enough time. My life got off track a bit, and I failed to make as much progress toward my goals as I thought I would on my own. I spoke with my coach several times a week because we work together, but it’s not the same as that one-on-one focus you get from a coaching session. My life coach career continued to move forward, but in hindsight I can see some areas that I could have worked on during that month “off” that would have really helped my in my own school of coaching. And if you are feeling that coaching is not worth the time or money for you right now, it may be time to start looking for a new coach.

How to Become a Mentor in Relationships: Skills You Can Use From Your Life Coach Career

Are You Wondering How to Become a Mentor in Relationships?

First, you will have to become a role model. What if you don’t have the ideal relationship? What if you aren’t even in a relationship? Use these life coach career skills and you will have success in your love life, and your life coach career.

The first step in how to become a mentor in relationships is to make a list of the qualities you want your ideal mate to have, as well as the qualities you want to avoid in your ideal mate. Be honest. This step is the foundation for the rest of this exercise.

The next step in how to become a mentor in relationships is to take your list of these good and bad qualities, and circle the top “must have” qualities you want to see in your ideal partner, as well as circling the “must not” qualities as well. If you’re not in a relationship, this step will make finding your ideal partner much easier. And if you’re already in a relationship don’t worry, we’ll get to that next.

This Next Step is Where The Real Life Coach Career Begins to Pay Off

The third step in how to become a mentor in relationships is to make a list of the qualities that you need to have to attract what you are looking for in a mate, if you’re single.

If you’re in a relationship, list the qualities of the person you would need to be in order to bring out the best in your spouse. Now take each item on your must list and rank from 0 to 10 in terms of how well your partner is doing in meeting your standard. Evaluate where you are on your list of what qualities you need to attract the type of relationship you want.

Be Honest With Yourself, Just The Way You Expect Your Clients in Your Life Coach Career to Be

And if you really want to know how to become a mentor in relationships, you will need to let your partner do this exercise as well. Share your results with each other. Provide support and accountability, just like you do in your life coach career.

After you work through this process you will know how to become a mentor in relationships, and dating too. These skills alone should boost any life coach career.

Life Coaching Education & Keys to a Life Coach Career That I Learned from Monkeys in Peru

Would you be surprised if I told you that I got a better life coaching education about what it takes to have a powerful life coaching career from monkeys in Peru than from most coaches?  It’s true.  Monkeys, no matter what you think about them, have a lot of life coaching education of offer about leadership and human behavior.  Whether you like it or not, we are PRIMATES and nothing will change that FACT.
.

Why Coaching Techniques Matter to Your Life Coach Career

If you want a life coaching education to have the best life coach career possible, then you need to know why your coaching clients do what they do (and what will make them do something different).  Every one of your coaching techniques you use will need to provide one common service and value to your coaching client: CHANGE.  Your client wants change, you want to provide it, and your clients friends are looking for it (whether they want it or not).  Change is your CURRENCY and your ultimate claim to fame in your life coach career.
.

But Life Coaching Education & Coaching Techniques Are a Dime a Dozen

A life coach career can explode or fizzle out based upon your performance as a coach (not so much based upon your life coaching education).  You can be a great marketer, and sell ‘crap in a box’, but then you probably wouldn’t be interested in being a coach.  As a coach, you want to help people, and make money doing it.  Great coaching techniques are helpful, good marketing is helpful, but the most helpful thing is having great coaching techniques that ALSO can be used in your marketing process… they kill two birds with one stone, and you can sleep well at night also (knowing that your life career is actually authentic, heartfelt, and based upon your commitment to serve your fellow mankind).
.

Monkey Business: Life Coaching Education from the Amazon Rain-forest

Monkeys are great team players.  They also take revenge on you if they don’t like you.  If you can understand why, it will teach you the rules of the game of your life coach career.
If you want to influence others, it’s easier to understand the simple laws of influence when looking at monkeys, because there’s no human complications involved.  There are a lot of justifications and stories that a human will give you for why people will set a free session with you or get coaching with you, but the REAL reasons are much more PRIMAL.  Most life coaching education that you’ll get won’t admit that (and some that try to teach you how to have a great life coach career don’t even know that).
.

Monkey Business Coaching Techniques:

Before a monkey decides to follow another monkey, they have to know whether that other monkey is the ALPHA.  Monkeys are constantly testing to see ‘who’s the top monkey’ and they fight over the top spot.  If you are the top monkey, every monkey pays attention and homage to you.  If you are the bottom monkey, you are lucky just to be left alone.  Think of what it would be like to have a life coaching education from those monkeys.
.

HUMANS ARE JUST THE SAME

Sound jaded or cruel?  It’s not.  Can you imagine if we had no president (top monkey)?  No one would know who to turn to for decisions.  There would be complete chaos.  The Alpha monkey serves the community and in turn, gets the spoils.
This is important in your life coach career because no coaching technique or life coaching education will work if your client perceives you to be inferior to them.  They simply won’t listen to or follow you.  Can you imagine how impossible it would be to even set lots of free coaching sessions with people that perceive you to be inferior (perhaps you can… all too well…)?
