Finding A Resolution Using Conflict Coaching

Finding a resolution using conflict coaching mitigates time, energy and money. Any time you’re involved with a level of conflict it drains you. It mainly drains your focus and energy and a coaching just could be the answer. Conflict coaches are trained to develop strategies in order to mediate the conflict in the shortest amount of time with the least amount of damage.

So What Is Conflict Coaching?

Conflict coaching is much like mediation where two or more parties come to together to resolve their issues or concerns. Coaches develop sound communication skills and are in tune with the power of emotions at a heightened state of awareness. During the conflict coaching and resolutions process many factors fall into play. Conflict coaches would benefit from spending time reading and learning about different cultures. This would allow for a deeper connection with the client by being able to empathize and effectively communicate across cultures. In this discover of cross cultural communication one learns more about themselves.

Gather Feedback During Your Conflict Coaching Sessions.

What is feedback in the first place? Through conflict coaching we learn that feedback is the verbal or non-verbal communication that is shared during the process of how our behavior is affecting or influencing others. Conflict coaches set up an environment that really allows for an open dialog and feedback is the mechanism that provides the insight. It is in this portion of the communication that the underlining issues are revealed.

In order for feedback to be productive it needs to be specific and focused on the behavior not the person. When the person is attacked and not the behavior, the person often times becomes defensive and this slows down the process.

Basically there are three things you can do with feedback.
1. Think about what was just shared.
2. Use it to become a more effective person.
3. Forget about it and go about your business.

The Ultimate Goal of Every Fitness Coach

The ultimate goal of every fitness coach is to help their clients achieve a life of true balance. Or as the ancient Greeks would say: a sound mind in a sound body. This balanced approach is what sets fitness coaching apart from sports coaches and physical training.

A Knowledge of Physiology and Nutrition Are Fundamental

Obviously every fitness coach must have profound knowledge in the areas of human physiology, healthful practices and nutrition. Guided exercise and guided meditation, coupled with the latest in detoxification and healthy nutrition are a must. While many fitness coaches may be drawn to extremes in these areas – whether ancient or modern – I prefer a more moderate path, eating from the whole spectrum of foods and exercising in moderation – focusing on long term results and longevity.

The Fitness Coach Uses Accountability Coaching to Identify and Overcome Barriers to Action

Accountability coaching calls the client to a higher standard of commitment. In the process the client comes face to face with themselves and their willingness to settle for less. Having established goals and commitments in absolute clarity the fitness coach helps the client work back along the chain of decisions that form their actions, and helps them to choose at the most fundamental level to commit and to act to achieve their goals of health and fitness.

Then They Use Strategy Coaching to Release the Body and Mind for Focus and Freedom

In this stage the coach helps the client to address their four fundamental needs: the needs for love and connection, significance, variety, and certainty. And then to understand at the deepest level that by balancing the satisfaction of these needs, the client can develop self-reinforcing behavior that will assure that exercises are always done, nutritious diets are always followed, and meditation and peace of mind become the inevitable results of being alive.

Tell Me How To Become A Strength Coach

Please tell me how to become a strength coach. Well, there is a traditional route and then there is not so traditional route to follow. With either approach, the best way to learn how to become a strengthening coach is to simply start reading about different topics in this field.

The strength of the coach is in his or her experience of how to apply the techniques of building strength to the client.

How To Become A Strength Coach Takes Commitment

Whether you learn how to become a strength coach through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or you’ve learned through the practice of trial and error to become an effective coach takes time and commitment. While following the NSCA guidelines to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) may be a demanding task, the pay offs are rewarding.

The other route to obtaining a degree of understanding of how to become a strength coach is by practicing this profession on a daily basis as a coach. By taking the time and reading, practicing, and correcting the flaws discovered while practicing and then implementing these changes repeating them again and again until a level of proficiency is reached.

Hard Work Makes For A Great Payoff

One of the fastest ways I have been able to teach my clients how to become a strength coach themselves is by demanding them to work hard and to never quit. Coaching is a learned skill. JTS Advisors provides all the coaching skills one needs to become a great coach. It is hard work, but the payoff is enormous. From there, it is up to the coach to decide on the niche or subject that the coach wishes to study and then coach on.
A simple format would be to train with weights three days a week as in Mon/Wed/Friday format with two cardio days and a solid focus on nutritional timing. Quality and potion sizes of your food are also going to be key in your recovery. Eat six small meals spread out through the day and stay hydrated.

How to Become a Fitness Coach When You’re Overweight

If you do strictly phone coaching, the answer to how to become a fitness coach when you’ve got a few extra pounds is easy. But what if you do face-to-face coaching? Or just have integrity around who you say you are? Then it’s not as easy to say you became a fitness coach after overcoming your own obstacles.

How To Become a Fitness Coach Who Walks Your Talk

If you have an extra 10 pounds or so around the middle, chances are that you have an issue with fitness at some level. Whatever that issue is that keeps you from achieving your goals, is probably the same issue that will keep your clients from achieving theirs. I’ve found that the best way to learn how to become a fitness coach, or any other type of coach for that matter, is to break through your own limitations. Unless you’re alright with being mediocre.

3 Fitness Coach Traps To Avoid

1. Do more sit-ups to get rid of a flabby stomach. No matter how strong someone’s abdominals are, no one will see them if they are covered with a layer of fat.

2. If someone is exercising every day, they will automatically lose weight. It doesn’t matter how much someone exercises, extra calories = extra fat. In fact, research studies have shown that low intensity exercise even increases appetite.

3. Just Do It! How to become a fitness coach is more than being a drill sergeant. People do what they do because they are getting their needs met. Certainty plays a big role in weight loss, as most people get a lot of comfort from the foods they eat and the people they eat them with. Make sure you empower your clients so that their needs are being met at a higher level as they step into their new lifestyle.

What Makes a Good Personal Fitness Coach?

Yesterday a client of mine asked me if I knew of a good personal fitness coach. Now, this is a personal topic for me, as a Coach and as a fitness junkie. Personal fitness coaches have a responsibility to up hold a higher standard of moral and ethical behavior. People trust these coaches to guide them to a healthier, fun filled and more fruitful life style.

How Does a Personal Fitness Coach Get Results?

First of all, a personal fitness coach emphasizes personal accountability. Without accountability nothing happens. Yes, you might get some result, lose a few pounds, or lose a few inches here and there, but let’s be real. The truly awesome personal fitness coaches conduct assessments; develop a strategy and then implement a plan of action. It’s within this action plan and the accountability that the changes in life style take place.

You see, we will often do more for others than we will ever do for ourselves. For instance, if you set a plan to get up and run at 5 a.m. in the morning and you’re not a morning person nor a runner…the only reason you’re getting out of your comfortable warm bed is if your personal fitness coach is waiting outside under the street light for you!

Get Out of The House And Into Your Life.

Nature has a way of giving us a sense of health and rejuvenation. A good personal fitness coach will tell you that having a treadmill in your house or doing yoga in your home is fine, but nothing beats being outdoors. Feeling the wind on your face and the warmth of the sun on your back is irreplaceable. Moving your body throughout many different plains of motions will create the greatest results. So, run, jump, climb and pull yourself through every park, beach or obstacle on the street. Have fun, enjoy your life and introduce someone to your knew life of motion.

My Personal Weight Loss Coach Says I Have To Starve Myself

Let Your Clients Say "My Personal Weight Loss Coach Is The Best" | Image by TajpharmaWhen I hear people say, “My personal weight loss coach says I have to starve myself to have a great body,” it makes my blood boil. If you are a weight loss coach who preaches this mis-information your personal clients are likely to get fatter instead of thinner. Your clients will live in a state of feeling deprived instead of feeling empowered.

There Are No Short-Cuts To Success

The basic laws of physics state that you must consume fewer calories than you burn in order to lose weight. Restrictive diets where people consume 1000-1200 calories a day are not sustainable over time and worse yet these diets put your body into a state of starvation. Your body feels that it must conserve energy in order to survive, and hence metabolism slows down. You burn fewer calories which make it easier to gain the weight back and often more when you go off your diet. In addition, I know too well from personal experience that focus is everything. If I focus on not eating chocolate, that is all I think of and want. It becomes an obsession.

How to Get Your Clients to Boast, “My Personal Weight Loss Coach Gets Results!”

There is no secret to long term weight loss success. The key is to change lifestyles, not diet. To get long term results, the process needs to be sustainable. Unfortunately, most people think that when they reach their weight loss goal they can go back to their old habits. I can’t think of any other area of coaching where someone thinks he can go back to his old habits once he achieves his goal. A far more empowering alternative is to hope that your clients say, “My personal weight loss coach helped me transform my old habits into a lifestyle I can live with for the rest of my life!” In that process, your clients become someone who is not only able to lose the excess weight, but get off the weight loss roller coaster permanently.

Hope you took some great value out of this post today! I’d love to hear your feedback, so make sure you leave a comment with your thoughts or questions. And also, you can click on the Twitter button below to retweet this article… Thank you!

Discover How My Personal Fitness Coach Had Really Helped Me | Image by personalpowertrainingMy personal fitness coach was covering weight loss, physical activity, exercise, nutrition and the importance of sleep. Wow, was it all so confusing at first. So much information, so many books and references, where was I going to get the clarity? What should I do? My mind was ready to explode. I Want My Personal Fitness Coach to Fix Me Now

Change takes time. My personal fitness coach was sharing with me that it often takes up to 6-8 weeks for the lights to go on in your exercise program. This is what is referred to as neurological muscular wiring. This is your bodies was of saying “Hey Buddy” we’re making some changes here.
The reality is if you want to lose weight, get fit or simply live a healthier lifestyle, then some basics need to be covered first. Take a look around you. More and more people are gaining weight. This includes children, teenagers, adults and even the elderly. As people reflect out into the social mirror of life, they begin to rationalize that their current weight, level of fitness isn’t that bad. Compared to what I ask? This is your life, how do you want to look, feel or perform?

Listen to Your Fitness Coach!

It all starts with a decision. Decide what you want and then find a coach that you can say” This is my personal fitness coach.” They will be the one to help you get where you want to go. So as your coach, let’s get started. This is the fun part, eating. Focus on portion sizes; this is the key in the beginning. You see the problem is too many calories in and not enough calories out…being burned during physical activity. Exercise alone will not fix this problem, that’s why we must emphasis nutrition first.

So now you ask, what do I eat?

Basically eat lean meats and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit like 2-3 pieces, little starch…maybe an ice cream scoop or two of the starches if any at all, and no added sugar. Keep your selections simple and remember your portion control.

My Personal Fitness Coach Says: Exercise

A personal exercise program that consist of daily walks, some full body movements 2-3 times per week like body squats, push-ups, sit-ups and a couple of sprints will do the trick. Follow this up with adequate hydration and significant sleeping patterns. Don’t forget to get your vitamin “D” by soaking up some of Mother Nature’s natural sunlight. My personal fitness coach helps me to look on the brighter, healthier and more vibrant side of life. Hope yours does too, be good to yourself.

Wellness Coaching Jobs

Wellness coaching jobs are divided into health coaching, fitness coaching, image coaching, and mental health coaching | Image by: hubpages.comWellness coaching jobs are everywhere. You probably ran into at least a few wellness coaches in the last six months, and didn’t even know it. In fact the diversity in wellness coaching jobs is so profound, that you could have a team of 20 people and not cover the wide variety of specific descriptions that this wellness coaching industry covers. These jobs are available online, in gyms and therapy centers, and in the public sector as well. The most exciting part for many people is that this industry will get only more lucrative as the baby boomers get older and demand more wellness support, products, and services.

Different Types of Wellness Coaching Jobs

Wellness coaching jobs are divided into health coaching, fitness coaching, image coaching, and mental health coaching. Each of these areas can then be broken down much further into many different industries, solutions, processes, and jobs.

For example, in fitness coaching, there are personal trainers, sports and conditioning specialists, physical therapists, authors and bloggers and information marketers that write on the subject, fitness gurus, and on and on. Each problem, need, and desire that the population has around health demands a wellness coach that will be able to help them specifically.

Where to Find Wellness Coaching Jobs

There are two ways to approach getting a job as a wellness professional: look for employment, and go the ‘self employed’ route. These are as different as night and day.

If you go the employment route, then your coaching will need to fit in with the requirements of your employer, and your freedom and income will be constrained by their requirements. However, they will, most likely, take care of the marketing, sales, and administration for you, so you can just do the health coaching that you love.

If you decide to pursue your wellness coaching job in the self employed route, then you’ll probably have to handle 10 times the tasks and responsibilities that you would if you just had a job. However, you get to set your hours, your agenda, your coaching technique and service, and your income. It’s all up to you.

Places to look for employment would be:

  • Government Employment
  • Hospitals and Treatment Centers
  • Gyms and Fitness / Wellness Centers
  • Any Kind of Beauty Center

Places to look for self-employed opportunities would be:

  • Network Marketing Opportunities
  • Online Marketplaces and Networks
  • Your Local Networks (Friends, Family, Business Contacts, And Their Referrals)
  • Speaking, Teaching, And Local Workshops

Big Growth in Wellness Coaching

Because the baby boomers are aging, they will be looking for more healthy lifestyles as well as support to turn around any health problems they may have. In addition, don’t forget that they’ll still want to look young, even though they are not! These are all huge income opportunities and ways you can coach and serve more people in the world of wellness, beauty, fitness, and mental health. The only limiting factors are your own expertise, motivation, and ability to connect with this growing marketplace. Go ‘out there’ and get a job as a health and wellness coach today!

7 Weight Loss Coaching Tips For Healthier Kids

Weight Loss Coaching Is A Family Affair | Image by parentsConnectWeight loss coaching for families with overweight children is, unfortunately, probably going to get more and more common. According to the most recent National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 48% of American children and adolescents are overweight or obese and the number has increased drastically over the past two decades.

Negative Health Outcomes Associated With Excess Weight In Children And Adolescents

The physical health problems in kids who could benefit from weight loss coaching are pretty much the same as the ones that show up in adults. Some are obvious, like orthopedic problems, skin problems and asthma, and some may not be so obvious, like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Emotional problems include low self esteem, negative body image and depression. Socially, these young people are often stigmatized, teased, bullied, discriminated against and socially excluded, often leading to poor academic performance and various types of self destructive behavior like drinking, drugs and smoking. So how can you best coach these children and families?

Weight Loss Coaching Is A Family Affair

1. Focus on the family and not just the child. It’s usually mom or dad who does the cooking and shopping. And parents model eating behavior for their kids. Get everyone involved in planning, shopping, and cooking wherever possible.

2. Keep cultural norms in mind. You probably won’t have long-term success if you try to get an Italian family to give up pasta.

3. Take the focus off American popular stereotypes. Talk about the family getting healthier, having more energy to do better at work or school, and living longer, not about beauty and being skinny. And in weight loss coaching, like any other coaching, be sure to avoid any judgment from you, the coach.

4. Encourage eating smarter rather than eating less—a whole bowl of luscious fresh berries and a small scoop of frozen yoghurt instead of a piece of pie, for instance.

5. Encourage a small change approach. One week switch from white rice to brown rice. The next week, add a salad first course to dinner and serve smaller portions of starch.

6. Encourage exercise but put it in terms of improved stamina, more social interactions and more opportunities to be outside in the fresh air. Put it in positive terms rather than making it sound like punishment.

7. Don’t dictate a particular kind of exercise. Work with the family to find types of exercise that appeal. Maybe they would enjoy getting on a basketball court together or taking a family walk after dinner every night. Or maybe mom wants to do yoga and the child wants to swim. It doesn’t matter so long as they are moving.

Weight loss coaching is probably going to go on gaining in importance for some time to come. Parents don’t want to see their children suffer and may come to you as their last hope. As a coach, use your skills to help the adults explore their beliefs and expectations around food and weight. Use the tips to influence both parents and children so they can successfully change their habits to weight less and be healthier permanently.

Best Tip For Weight Loss Coaching: Ditch The Diet

Weight Loss Coaching Tips | Image by NaturalBiasAs a life coach, you probably have many clients who are interested in weight loss coaching. Whether for health reasons or appearance reasons, it sometimes seems like almost every client has losing weight on her list of goals. With all the diets and gyms and trainers available, do you ever wonder why there are so many people who have trouble controlling their weight? Well, I’m about to give you a controversial idea about weight loss coaching: have your client ditch her restrictive diet. You know—the one where she’s “allowed” half a cup of cottage cheese and three stalks of celery for lunch. Yes, that one, that feeds her mindset of scarcity and denial, instead of abundance and joy.

Weight Loss Coaching Should Focus On Feelings

Weight loss coaching has to be about more than food. Believe me, by the time your clients are bringing this up with you, they are probably quite well educated on calories and portion sizes. And if that’s what they want help with, send them to a licensed nutritionist. What they need a coach for is help finding a way to stop looking at dieting as punishment or deprivation, and start looking at making good food choices as a way of valuing, loving and caring for themselves. To begin this attitude shift, ask your clients to keep a log or notes on what they eat and how they feel an hour after they’ve eaten. Ask them to pay attention to whether they feel energetic or lethargic, fuzzy headed or clear minded. Tell them the log is just for them—you don’t have to see it! And ask questions like “How do you want to feel?” or “How would you rather feel?”

Expose Limiting Beliefs With Weight Loss Coaching

One of my favorite weight loss gurus says “how you do anything is how you do everything.” Coaching is a wonderful opportunity to expose barriers preventing your clients from reaching their other goals, too. So what are some other great questions to pose to your weight loss coaching clients? Here are a few:
Do you think you treat yourself well?
Are you worth treating yourself well?
Who is in control of your life—you or the chocolate (or whatever food is their challenge)?
What do you think will change when you have lost the weight?

In the long run, dieting doesn’t work very well. Of course, you may have weight loss coaching clients who have medically restricted diets, and you never will change or challenge a doctor’s orders to her patient. But when your clients begin to look at eating wisely as a way demonstrating self love and value instead of representing deprivation, you have opened the door to long term success.

Special Bonus – Learn 3 simple ways to become a life coach with the “30-Days to Become a Coach” video toolkit when you fill in the form at the top right and click the “Watch The Videos Now” button. You’ll learn how to change your client’s life in 45 minutes.
