Coaching Certification Programs + Christian Values

Finding a coaching certification programs + Christian values is a three step process. First search for coaching programs which certify their graduates. Next among those look for programs which emphasize Christian values, which is not as simple as it sounds. And then evaluate the programs that you fine for quality based on specific criteria. Here’s how.

Develop a long List and Pare It down from There

Cast a wide net to find coaching programs that include certifications. This first step is simply a matter of Googling for coaching programs that say they certify their graduates. That will be a very long list, but it is a necessary first step. The next two steps will tell the tale.

Identify Programs Based on Christian Values

Once you have the long list of programs that offer certification, further narrow this list down with three searches. Search your long list for the phrases “Christian” and “Christian Values”. Also search for phrases that imply Christian values like “Christ Centered” or the name of a Christian denomination like “evangelical”, “orthodox” or “catholic”. Also consider searching for the names of Christian thought leaders like “Robert Schuller”. You don’t have to use every combination, just use the ones that make sense relative to what you are looking for, and see what you get. This will narrow your list to sites that offer coaching certification programs + Christian values.

Determining the Quality of Coaching Certification Programs + Christian Values

Once you have a list of sites for coaching certification programs + Christian values, you need to determine the relative quality of these programs. First review the descriptions of the sites which appear in the Google search results. Try to narrow your list down to about 10 sites based on this information. Next, look at the websites for these programs. Look at the program descriptions, the value statements, the certification criteria and affiliations. Then check out the free teaching materials shown on the site. Do they reflect your values? Is the content impressive? Also look for testimonials. At this point you should have a list of three or four. Now go back to Google and search for positive and negative references. There are always one or two unhappy customers who sign up for programs and then don’t do the required work. But if you see a consistent negative message, beware. If you don’t find at least two good candidates that you can contact directly, go back to your list developed in the preceding paragraph, and repeat. Once you have two to three good candidates, contact the programs directly, preferably by phone and interview them from a list of questions that you have prepared in advance. Using a list of questions assures that you get consistent information about the programs. Ask for a free coaching session and information on graduates you can interview. Once you have your free coaching session and interview a couple of graduates you will be in a position make a decision. This may seem like a lot of work but you will invest a lot of money and time in your coaching certification programs + Christian values, so you want to make sure you really get it right.

Certified Life Coaching May be the Perfect Career For You!

Do you think certified life coaching is for someone else and not for you? Do you think you lack the skills to be a coach? Well, think again – certified life coaching might be the best career move you can make.

You should know that you do not have to be certified to start coaching. That’s right, you can begin coaching without any type of certification. Just hang out a sign, put a classified ad online and call yourself a coach.

Why Get a Coaching Certification?

Just as people go to school to get a B.A or an MBA or a Phd, coaches should pursue and continue their education toward a certification or multiple certifications, which will make them more skilled and proficient in their chosen field.

Most certified life coaching programs offer various courses that help to improve skills and prepare students for life as a coach. They also offer practice coaching sessions, mentor coaching, written assignments, and knowledge and skills testing. There is no current standard or set requirements for coaching programs; requirements can vary greatly from program to program.

There are two main types of certification – from a professional organization or from a training school. Getting a certification from a professional governing body is your best bet. The largest governing body in the coaching industry is the International Coach Federation (ICF).

Certified Life Coaching From ICF

Who or what is the ICF? It is a nonprofit organization formed by individual professionals who practice coaching. Thee organization includes life coaches, executive coaches, leadership coaches, and all other types of coaching professionals. The ICF was formed in 1995, and has become the leading global coaching organization, with over 21,000 members. The organization is dedicated to advancing and promoting the coaching profession by setting high professional standards, providing valuable independent certification, and creating a network of credentialed coaches. They offer three types of certification.

  • Associate Certified Coach. This certification requires completion of a specific amount of coach-specific training and classes, a minimum of 100 coaching experience hours, and other specific requirements.
  • Professional Certified Coach. This certification if for someone who has proven themselves in the field. It requires a certain amount of classes and training, a minimum of 750 coaching hours, at least 25 clients, and other requirements.
  • Master Certified Coach. This certification is for the expert coaching professional. It requires classes and training, a minimum of 2,500 hours of coaching experience, 35 or more clients, and other specific requirements.

You can also earn certification from various training programs and schools. The requirements for earning certification vary greatly from program to program and school to school. Many coaches earn multiple certifications, from the ICF and various training programs, as they gain experience and education.

Certified life coaches provide a valuable and needed service in our modern, fast-paced world. The pursuit of health and happiness is wrought with a variety of obstacles, and life coaches can help clients navigate their way through the world towards their goals and dreams. To Become a Certified Life Coach or Not – That is the Question

To become a certified life coach or to not become a certified life coach, that is the question. Ok, I stole from the Bard of Avon to get the first sentence, but forgetting Shakespeare for a moment, to become a certified life coach or not may be a question some of you are asking.

What Do You Need To Become a Certified Life Coach?

Here’s what you need to become a certified life coach – no BS.

  • Passion for helping others
  • Dedication to the coaching profession
  • Training, education, and certification
  • Willingness to work hard

That’s it – if you possess those four qualities, it’s time you started down the road to becoming a certified life coach. If you do, you’ll be on your way to a highly rewarding and completely dynamic career.

If you have a passion for helping others, being a life coach is the perfect gig. You work in a professional environment, have the ability to make a good income, and you are in a position to guide others to reach their goals and dreams. Not bad, right?

However, once you take this gig, you must be dedicated. Now, that doesn’t mean you have to work eighty hours per week or skip your vacation every year. It merely means you need to dedicate yourself to being the best coach you can be and work your hardest for each and every client.

You can certainly be a coach without training or certification. However, if you were a potential client, wouldn’t you want a coach to be certified? Certification means that you are dedicated to receiving the proper training and education that will enable you to be the best coach you can be.

Like any professional career, a willingness to work hard is almost a prerequisite. Once again, eighty-hour work weeks are not required. A willingness to work hard means you are poised to get the job done and meet your client’s expectations at all times. You must be willing to continue your education, go above and beyond to help a client, and always seek to improve. If you can do that, you are definitely a hard worker!

To become a certified life coach sounds pretty easy, right? Well, it is and it isn’t. If you have the “right stuff”, it can be relatively easy. Find a comprehensive training program

JTS Master Coach Certification Training

A group of new coaches recently completed the 2011 Master Coach Certification Training seminar, led by Jeffrey Sooey.

Where Was The Master Coach Certification Training Seminar Held?

The Master Coach Certification Training Seminar was held from November 10-13. It took place at the beautiful Hilton Hotel in historic St. Augustine, near Jacksonville, Florida (by the Matanzas bay). It was three days filled with tremendous, cutting edge information.

The unique thing about this seminar is that usually Jeffrey only offered this training to his Master Coach University students, but on this occasion he made the rare opportunity available to other coaches on his mailing list.

What Was The Agenda?

Our own, Jeffrey Sooey, the founder of Coaches Training Blog, taught the seminar. Jeff is a master at teaching a very clear and detailed two part course.

Part one was on setting up an Internet coaching business. He laid out a step-by-step strategy of how to set up your business, and then gave the nuts and bolts of how to market the business.

Part two covered advanced coaching techniques.

Those who completed the seminar received a recognized coaching certification from JTS Advisors.

What Do The People Have to Say About The Master Coaching Certificate Training?

Attendees were thrilled about the Master Coach Certification Training seminar. I was able to get an exclusive interview with Ai Dee Chang who was one of the attendees. Here is what Dee had to say:

“On a scale from one to ten, with the information I received from the seminar, I would give it a 200.”

“I didn’t have just one ‘aha’ moment, I had many ‘aha’ moments. Jeff helped me realize a lot of my patterns and habits were being controlled by my values (human) needs.”

“I felt like a different person when I completed the class. All I need to do is to follow what he taught me and I will be on my way.”

“I’ve been to many seminars (mostly Real Estate seminars) at which I have received some good input, but nothing compares to this one. Jeff’s Master Coach Certification Training Seminar was much more. I not only received good coach information, this course actually changed my perspective and thinking, as well as taught me how to get results. I have nothing but appreciation for Jeff. It was a life changing seminar. The best I have ever attended.”

It certainly sounds like this seminar was a great success and delivered great value. Don’t miss Jeff’s next certification training in 2012 (contact us for more information).

Are Accredited Online Coaching Programs Scams?

I wouldn’t say that accredited online coaching programs are scams, even though at times it might seem like it.

There are many good life coaching schools that offer accredited online coaching programs and just as many fine programs that are not accredited.

What’s The Big Deal About Accreditation?

Choosing the right coaching school will affect your future as a coach. But whether the school is accredited or not should not be your main criteria and here are the reasons why:

  • First off there are no set agreed on standards for the life coaching industry. Therefore there are no recognized standards to judge coaching schools by and no legal authority to do the accrediting.
  • Then there are those who want to control the industry and the income resulting from it. Therefore not all schools get accredited that should and not every school that is accredited should be.
  • Not all but some coaches use their accreditation seals as an online marketing tool. This tactic can make the school seem better than other programs. However, the real proof is in the results of the course.

How Will It Affect Your Future Business If You Don’t Opt For Accredited Online Coaching Programs?

Your future is as bright as the brilliance of your coaching.

Although some potential clients may feel more comfortable if you are a certified coach, most clients don’t care what school you went to, much less have time to investigate the credentials of the school. In our busy world today clients are more concerned about results than taking the time to check if the school you attended had an accredited online coach program or not.

What they do care about is the results. Potential clients will most likely hire you because of a referral of someone who got results. Then they’ll see if you click with them but the thing they look at the most is if you can produce the results and solutions they are seeking.

How To Choose Your Coaching School?

If accredited online coaching programs are not that important in choosing a coaching school what is? In my opinion these are the things that are important.

  • Finding a school that will deliver the results you are looking for. Read student testimonials of those who have gone to the school to see if they have had those results you are looking forward to.
  • Confirm that the school’s curriculum is what you want.
  • When contacting the school for more information see what sort of connect you have with them. You can often tell if the school is right for you by the way you are treated.

Are accredited online coaching programs scams? You decide but I suggest to any prospective coaching students to find the school that is best suited for your need. Don’t be intimidated by advertising boasting of accreditation unless of course that is what you are looking for.

How To Tell If A Certified Life Coach Online Training Is A Lemon

Certified life coach online training companies are popping up everywhere these days. There are so many certified life coaching trainings online and no one to really objectively critique the quality. Even the International Coaching Federation has dropped the ball here and failed to do more than create hoops for training companies to jump through, without really assessing the level of competence of their graduates. So what’s a would be coach to do? You have to be ready to do your homework before you enroll.

How To Avoid Buying A Lemon When It Comes To Certified Life Coach Online Training

Choosing a certified life coaching online training is no different than buying a used car. You want to test drive it first. There are a few ways to test drive a coaches training program. One way is to watch instructors in action. While it’s unlikely that you can listen in to live trainings, most reputable companies will let you listen to some trainings. Some of these companies even offer video trainings online so you can see the style of training and get some free samples to test out. Another way you can test drive is to schedule a free session with one of the companies coaches. This is different than a sales call. A well trained coach should be able to help you get a lasting result in less than an hour.

Online Coach Training Certification Means Nothing

In the end, your certified life coach online training diploma is not worth the paper it’s printed on unless you can get the results you’re looking for. Know what you want from your training. Do you want to learn great coaching skills? Do you want to be able to find clients who will pay you to coach them? Do you want to learn how to set up your own coaching business. One online coach training certification course is not likely to be able to provide all your needs, but make sure the company you chose is able to provide resources you need to succeed.

Why Do You Need a Business Coaching Certification?

The fact is you don’t need a business coaching certification.
However, to succeed in this market whether you want to have your own business as a business coach, or to be an internal company business coach, it might be helpful to have one. It all depends on the outcome you wish to achieve.

If you wish to coach and develop staff within an organization, certification may not be necessary, but it might be desirable depending on what sort of company you want to work for. For example if you have your site set on working with the Fortune 500 group or the Blue Chip companies then you will need a MCC (Master Coach Certification) as these sort of companies seldom hire coaches without such certifications.

Standing out from the crowd in this competitive field of business coaching is important. One of the best ways to stand out is to have extraordinary experience or a business coaching certification.

Four Types of Business Coach Certificates

  • The foundational life coach and business certification. This business coaching certification is fine enough for anyone who wants to pursue coaching as a full-time occupation or wants to make coaching skill a central part of your practice as a manager or business consultant. It’s ideal for managers, human resource development, organizational development consultants, and other professionals who are moving into a coaching or training role.
  • Executive coach certification. This certification is recommended if you want to work with executives.
  • Corporate coach certification. This certification is not necessary, however, it most likely would add skills to your coaching and value to your resume or bio.
  • Master coach certification. As mentioned above, this certification is highly recommended if you want to work with fortune 500 companies. To acquire this certification you must have completed the foundational life coach certifications and possibly the executive coach certification before moving on to the master’s certification.

The Exception to Getting a Business Coaching Certification

Of course there is always the exception to the rules, and that exception is results. Results are the best qualifications, even above a business coaching certification.

Do not belittle the value of experience. If you have extraordinary experience, and wish to apply your genius to achieve amazing results to move a business forward, then you may find yourself among the top business coaches in a relatively short time with or without a business coaching certification.

Hope you took some great value out of this post today! I’d love to hear your feedback, so make sure you leave a comment with your thoughts or questions. And also, you can click on the Twitter button below to retweet this article… Thank you!

Do You Need A Degree To Become A Life Coach?

Do You Need A Degree To Become A Life CoachOne of the most common questions I get is, “Do you need a degree to become a life coach?” The simple answer is no, the IFC is not going to crack down on your coaching business for failure to have a degree, license or any other type of certification. Coaching is a relatively open field with few barriers to entry. Just hang your sign and start enrolling clients.

Why Do You Need A Degree To Become A Life Coach?

People are tighter with their money these days. They want more value for their dollar. If you want to become a life coach you will need skills. So why might you get a degree to become a life coach? You can pick up the skills you need and get credentials at the same time. Before you do this, however, you need to ask yourself why do you need a degree to become a life coach?

Don’t Get Sucked Into Getting A Degree For The Wrong Reasons

There are lots of reasons to get a life coach degree. But why do you need a degree to become a life coach? Is it because you want to improve your skills? Or is it because you just feel you want the credentials to prove that you are qualified to coach people. If it’s the latter, then you’re probably wasting your time and money.

Choosing a life coaching program is a monumental challenge. There are so many programs that the task can seem daunting. There are several musts, and of course there is room for personal preference. Some of the musts are:

    1. A program that gives you the opportunity to practice your coaching skills with feedback on your performance.
    2. A personal mentor to guide you so you maximize your results.
    3. Beyond coaching skills, you’ll need business skills to get coaching clients who are willing to pay you for your services.

Above all, be clear with what you want out of your coaches training program and take the time to talk to instructors, find out what previous participants say about the program, and find out what the curriculum entails. Do you need a degree to become a life coach? Of course not, which allows you to make a choice based on what results you really want.

Special Bonus – Learn 3 simple ways to become a life coach with the “30-Days to Become a Coach” video toolkit when you fill in the form at the top right and click the “Watch The Videos Now” button. You’ll learn how to change your client’s life in 45 minutes.
