.

How to Become a Life Coach Who Knows Their Core Asset:

Becoming a Life Coach who knows what your core assets are means understanding what skills you have.  The three questions to ask are, “What could you be the best in the world at doing if you worked at it?  What are you most passionate about doing?  And, what could you do to make money?”  This takes years to develop, so don’t be frustrated if you aren’t exactly sure how to become a life coach with the perfect niche.  You will continue to refine this as you go along your path.  This is the number one reason why people get hung up.

Become a Life Coach Who Doesn’t Need to Make New Year’s Resolutions: How to Become a Life Coach Who Writes Smart Goals

Just because you’ve become a life coach doesn’t make it more likely that you will follow through on your New Years’ Resolutions. In fact, most people can’t remember when they resolved to do by March. And unless you want to follow the masses, you need to figure out how to become a life coach who goes beyond what most people do and set powerful goals.

How to Become a Life Coach who thinks “SMART”

.

For a goal to be powerful it needs to be SMART.

How to Become a Life Coach Who Writes ‘Specific’ Goals:
The ‘S’ in this acronym stands for Specific. Goals need to be clear enough so another person can understand and grasp what the goal is about. For example: A goal to become a life coach who has a thriving business is vague.

How to Become a Life Coach Who Writes ‘Measurable’ Goals:
The ‘M’ stands for Measurable. If you want to become a life coach who writes SMART goals you need to have a clear picture of victory. For example: A goal to enroll 5 new clients is measurable. You know when you’ve achieved the goal, and you can keep measure your progress along the way.

How to Become a Life Coach Who Writes ‘Ambitious’ Goals:
The ‘A’ stands for Ambitious. My favorite example of this is when a client who was almost 70 told me his goal was to complete a century bicycle ride. That sounded ambitious to me. But it wasn’t for him. He had completed the same ride 7 years in a row. Don’t become a life coach who settles for less than ambitious goals.

How to Become a Life Coach Who Writes Down the ‘Reason’ the Goals are Important:
The clearer you are about why you want to achieve a goal, the more likely you will be motivated to persevere when challenges arise. Make sure you become a life coach who understands what you are really trying to achieve in terms of getting your needs met. Will you get more Certainty/ Security in your life as a result of accomplishing your goals? More Significance? More Love & Connection? More Variety?

How to Become a Life Coach Who Creates a ‘Time’ the Goals Will be Completed by:
Don’t let yourself become a life coach who says, “Someday.” For some people it might be a bit daunting to commit to a date, but at least you will feel enough pressure to get into action.

Become a Life Coach Who Doesn’t Need the New Year to Have Resolve

.

Are you ready to become a life coach who reflects on this past year and makes goals? Goals like “How to become a life coach who gets better results?” sound like a good idea, but are really only a few steps away from being a powerful and compelling goal.

How to Become a Life Coach Who is Successful: Why Your State of Mind is So Important in Taking Your Life Coach Career to the Next Level

A lot of people wonder how to become a life coach and what’s the secret to a successful life coach career. More important than how to become a life coach and what classes to take to help you get to the next level in your life coach career is your state of mind. Your state of mind is the key to the quality of actions you’ll take and the results you’ll get.

How State of Mind Plays a Part in Your Life Coach Career

Why is state so important in figuring out how to become a life coach? If you are in a confident and intelligent state the action you take will be confident and intelligent. How will others perceive you in this confident state? Confident, of course. And if your actions are powerful and confident, your results are more likely to be powerful and confident. This tends to become a positive cycle. As you start seeing positive results, you will gain confidence which will help you go into an even more confident state of mind. It’s easy to see how this can affect your life coach career.

How to Become a Life Coach with a Negative State of Mind

Will a negative state of mind affect your ability to figure out how to become a life coach? If you are in a fearful state of mind, the action you take might be timid, if any. If the action you take is low quality, you’ll get low quality results. Just as there can be a positive spiral effect by taking actions in a positive state, there can be a negative spiraling affect. A depressed state of mind…will lead to low quality actions. As your mind notices a low level of results, you will be less motivated to take action and the quality of action will be even lower. This will lead to more negative action and more negative results, which will definitely decrease your effectiveness in your life coach career.

A Life Coach Career Needs More than One Success

The key to how to become a life coach is to repeat your successes and create a destiny… Key actions taken over time create success. Anyone can do something for a day. But just like you can’t go to the gym once and become a body builder, you can’t expect to create a major shift in your life coach career overnight. In order to create a different peer group, get different result, and create a different life you must learn how to perform at your best. That means anytime, anywhere, and under any circumstances.

How to Become a Life Coach Who is Successful: Rituals

Because your state of mind when left to its own devices is unpredictable, how do you guarantee that you get the success in your life coach career you desire? If you want to know how to become a life coach who gets the results you want on a consistent basis, you must ritualize your most valuable states of mind. Just like brushing your teeth before bed, you’ll want to get into peak state before your go to work. Combine getting into state with another activity that you already do, to link them together and make sure it happens. And just like the results you get from going to the gym consistently over time produce, the successes you get from consistently getting into a great state will build on each other.

How to Become a Life Coach and Never Have to Worry About Finding Coaching Jobs Again

How to Become a Life Coach Who is World Class

If you really want to know how to become a life coach who is world class, then the answer is simple. Not necessarily easy, but simple. There are 3 things you must do if you want to become a coach who is in the top 5%. These coaches are at the top because they have done what most people won’t do, so they can be and have things most people can’t. This group isn’t ever worried about finding coaching jobs because they’ve handled that part of their life.

How to Become a Life Coach Who Finds Coaching Jobs No Matter What:

  1. To learn how to become a life coach who is outstanding, you need to find outstanding role models. Find the best of the best, and study them. Read what they read, buy every book and audio they have made, and study them. My dad used to say in school he studied the teachers more than he studied the subjects. By doing this he would figure out what they thought was most important. The best coaches will show you how to be a master coach and get coaching jobs.

  2. The next step if you want to know how to become a life coach who is the best of the best, is total immersion. We know total immersion is the best way to study a language, but how many people will really immerse themselves into an environment to learn once they have experienced some level of comfort and security.

    It works for medical students.

    It works for interns.

    It works for coaches.

Now it is possible with the technology of audios, videos, and teleconferences to immerse yourself from the comfort of your own home. But there is also a ton of value in the kind of total immersion where you really get out of your comfort zone and usual stomping grounds.

  3. The last ingredient to this recipe for how to become a life coach who is known for greatness, is spaced repetition. A certain guru used this technique in his early days. For example he would coach people to quit smoking within a single session. Then he would repeat it over and over again, mastering it before he went on to other types of coaching jobs. My mentor reviews videos of masters such as this guru every six months. Not because he is leaning new information, but because it puts him into state and he actually sees himself as these gurus. We do the same for movies we’ve seen over and over again, repeating key lines. Why not do it where it really makes a difference…in coaching jobs?

That’s how simple it really can be…How to become a life coach who is world class and has plenty of coaching jobs is not rocket science! Now, as Dr. Laura would say, “Go out and do it.”

Coach Training: How to Become a Life Coach? Start by Believing You Can

How to Become a Life Coach in a Nutshell

If you search the web, you will find hundreds of coach training sites telling you how to become a life coach. Recently I came upon a story that seemed to really make it clear how to become a life coach. A young college student fell asleep during his math class. The bell rang, startling him out of a deep sleep. He quickly looked at the board, and copied down the two math problems. He assumed that they were the homework problems. He went back to his dorm room and spent the rest of the day trying in vain to solve the problems. He was terrified of failing the class, and too embarrassed to admit defeat and ask for help. Finally after a week he brought the answer to one of the problems to his professor, who was shocked. The problem was “unsolvable” and the professor had never meant for anyone to attempt to solve it.

So the coach training for the question, “how to become a life coach?” is to start by believing it is possible. Then take massive action and don’t give up.

The Most Powerful Coach Training?  Belief

How did the student succeed? He believed that it was possible, and he feared that he would fail the class if he didn’t solve the problem. He wasn’t going to give up on himself. Of course, if he hadn’t believed it was possible he wouldn’t have been able solve the problem. The same goes for any goal or challenge, including how to become a life coach.

Coach training insight #1: Our beliefs not only determine the action we will take, but the quality and quantity of action.

Coach training insight #2: Beliefs control our future. What we will attempt, what we will achieve, and who we will become.

Coach training insight #3: Whatever we strive to achieve begins with the awareness that we have a choice in what we believe. As Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can, or think you cannot, either way you are right.”

Once you believe you can become a life coach, “how to become a life coach will be a solvable problem with the proper coach training.

How to Become a Life Coach: What Kind of Training Do I Need?

The question of how to become a life coach is followed with the question about what kind of life coach training do I need.

To answer the question of how to become a life coach I think it’s important to answer an even more important question and that is “What is a Life Coach?”

According the dictionary

Life coaching is a practice with the aim of helping clients determine and achieve personal goals. Life coaches use multiple methods that will help clients with the process of setting and reaching goals. Coaching is not targeted at psychological illness and coaches are not therapists or consultants.

That’s a pretty big definition so it stands to reason that training is an important factor.

Becoming a Life Coach –How Much am I Going to Pay for Coaches Training and What Kind of Training do I Need?

How to become a life coach is best served through working with a qualified organization. There are the large schools such as Adler in Canada or CTI but there are also many worthy companies such as JTS advisors who offer excellent training in strategy, accountability and assessment coaching.

The kind of Life Coach training you will need may very depending on the facility but the core training for each will cover the art and science of coaching. The skills you will learn in exchange for your coaches training fees include: effective listening, effective questioning, intervention techniques, leadership effectiveness, accountability and strategy techniques, change technologies and more. You will also receive tools for change, inner psychology, code of ethics, and contracting with your client. Your curriculum should include classroom (virtual or at location), peer to peer coaching, coach the coach, home assignments, lectures, resources and reading and evaluation.

In Terms of Life Coach Training, How Much Does it Cost?

Life coach training fees range from hundreds to thousands and even 10′s of thousands of dollars.  If you are buying a coaching franchise, you will probably be paying over $10,000.00 (and usually more like $100,000.00).  The most important thing to know is wether or not you are getting great value for your money, because many coaches training organizations are expensive for what you get.  Some of these organizations could simply be carpet baggers, squatting on an opportunity to take advantage of well meaning, yet naive people.  How do you avoid those more ‘scammy’ types of trainings?  Talk to people who did the training and see what they thought and what kind of results they are getting.

Coaching Techniques if You Want to Know How to Become a Life Coach

How to provide massive value during a single coaching session & How you can make people feel they’ve obtained the best coaching from you

Everyone who wants to learn how to become a life coach needs coaching techniques that create value for every coaching session you give. The best coaching techniques involve getting out of your own head and getting into someone else’s head. Specifically when learning how to become a life coach, and really trying to provide massive value for someone, to help them shift…you will need to get into their head.

What does that mean? It means going beyond understanding where someone is coming from, it means understanding them so well that you feel the emotions they are feeling and experiencing the situations WITH them.

What coaching techniques do you need to use to get into someone’s head? Assuming you have rapport with them, you can start by asking them about their goals. Find out which 3 things are most crucial to them to achieve in the next 90 days. This will give you valuable information about where they are, where they want to be, and the vehicles they are using. Are they looking for certainty or variety? Are they looking for love & connection or significance? These are the four basic needs for survival.

Once you know this basic information, you want it to become crystal clear…not only to you, but to your client as well. One of the best coaching techniques is to ask questions. You want to really get clear around what their needs are so you know how to become a life coach for them, especially in their eyes.

What’s important about “x”?

What are your beliefs around “x”?

How does that make you feel? How would that make you feel if you could change that?

What’ stopping you from achieving “x”? How has it stopped you in other areas?

What is failing to change costing you?

What’s important to you in your life?

What are you missing out on in your life?

Note their emotions and see how their emotions get their meaning in the context of what’s important to them. This is one of the most important aspects of learning how to become a life coach.

What if they answer, “I don’t know?” That leads to the next step in our list of coaching techniques… Ask more questions. Change your words to reflect your client’s language more. Mirror back to them in tonality, intensity and speed of language. Or you can assume a more dominant posture and tell them…”you DO know.” And wait for their response. Reassure them that they have the answers and that it is ok for them to take the time and find them.

By now you have a lot of information. Now you KNOW how to become a life coach for your client. You should be in their world. If not…ask more questions for clarity. “Tell me more about…” Listen to their words, and try to feel what they are feeling. Feed it back to them to check and see if you really have it. This takes practice, but when you get it right…it’s magic. When they sense that you really understand, they will either tell you with words, you will hear a shift in their voice, or they may simply sigh. You have given them massive value at this point. You may be the first person who has ever taken the time to really understand them. You have now EXPERIENCED how to become a life coach.

Now you are ready for the next step in coaching techniques…after you have “become” that person, quietly step outside and observe from your vantage point. Offer that perspective to your client, which is now filtered through what’s going on with them. This is another opportunity to give value. If you don’t have answers, ask questions rather than telling them what to do.  The real value you can offer as a coach is to be able to help people find their own path.  Ultimately, your client will choose that path themselves, and you’re only a supporter along the way.
