How to Become a Success Coach: What You Need More than a Life Coach Degree

If you want to become a success coach you’ll need a lot more than a life coach degree. You may be thinking, what could be more important than a life coach degree? But it is your beliefs that supply the foundation for success. They are passive memory; the instruction manual for how you operate. Therefore, it follows that to become a success coach, you will need to make sure your beliefs support you.

The Importance of Your Beliefs When You Become a Success Coach

e

How do beliefs dictate the likelihood that you will become a success coach? Beliefs are the conductor in the orchestra of success; not you, your beliefs. While your triad (the combinations of beliefs, physiology, and language pattern) dictates how you feel and how well you’ll perform in any particular moment, the biggest factor comes into play from your beliefs. Your beliefs organize and command when you choose what state of mind to go into. Belief delivers a direct command to your nervous system. When you believe something is true, you literally go into the state of its being true. In fact, there’s no more powerful directing force in human behavior than belief. And while earning a life coach degree may help your beliefs about your ability to coach, the degree alone is worthless if your belief structure isn’t supportive of your role as a coach.

How Your Beliefs Affect Your Ability to Become a Success Coach?

E

How do your beliefs affect your capacity to become a success coach? Your beliefs are the central orchestrator of all the motivating forces in your coaching business. Your beliefs dictate:

  • What you will attempt in your coaching.
  • Whether you pursue a life coach degree.
  • The way your treat your clients and partners.
  • How you feel about your coaching business.
  • Your perception of your coaching.
  • What you focus upon and think is important in your coaching business.

Use Your Beliefs to Complement Your Life Coach Degree

e

How can you make sure you succeed in your attempt to become a success coach even before you earn a life coach degree? The challenge is the opportunity. Most of our beliefs about what is going to happen in our coaching business were created from interpretations of experiences in our past, even if we’ve never started a coaching business before. Most coaches don’t consciously decide what to believe about their coaching business, but the truth is, we all can. It’s up to us to decide what we will believe.

The first step to become a success coach who chooses their own believes about their coaching practice, is awareness. You can just as easily develop powerful or limiting belief about your coaching business if you just find enough references to build them up. You could easily find reasons to support your beliefs that clients are rotten, or that they are wonderful! Which on is true? The answer is that it doesn’t matter which one is true. What matters is that you can choose. And it doesn’t take a life coach degree to figure out that it makes more sense to choose the one that is most empowering.

How to Become a Success Coach Who Understands the Keys to Fulfillment and Achievement: Coaching Techniques That You Can Use to Inspire People

January 30th, 2009

What does it take to become a success coach? The first of the coaching techniques is to recognize that there are two ingredients to success:

Motivation – People are motivated by two things, pain and pleasure. In general we are motivated to go toward things that cause pleasure, and away from things that cause pain.

Fulfillment – It is a matter of feeling good MOST of the time.

To become a success coach, you need to find out what people really want and then help them achieve that. Celebration is an essential ingredient in motivation AND fulfillment, and can be used as a coaching technique. Someone who has become a success coach and understands this can really make a powerful difference in a person’s life. Most people rarely give themselves much credit when they accomplish something, and simply go on to the next task. This cycle can lead to burnout, lack of fulfillment, and poor motivation. This is why giving permission to celebrate is one of the most powerful coaching techniques you can use.

Here are 4 specific coaching techniques to become a success coach who can help a client celebrate:

  1. Help your clients find a way to reward themselves.

  2. Make sure they take action on the reward.

  3. Have your clients notice when they start to feel good as they reward themselves.

  4. When they are feeling really good, have them answer these questions:

    1. What am I celebrating?

    2. Why is that worth celebrating?

    3. Why was it an important goal? How does that make me feel?

    4. What did I do to achieve that goal?

    5. Who have I become in the process? Who will I become in the future?

Within a few minutes of using these coaching techniques, you can become a success coach who can lead people to motivate themselves and find fulfillment in their accomplishments. And what about celebrating your own victories? Could you become a success coach who takes their own advice and uses these coaching techniques? Have fun!

Become a Success Coach Who Can Motivate People to Do Anything (Secret Life Coach Tips From My Guru)

January 22nd, 2009

To become a success coach, you need to understand the 4 basic human needs. They are Certainty, Variety, Love & Connection, and Significance. Once you understand these needs, and apply them to your coaching with a few secret life coach tips, you will be able to motivate almost anyone to change their behavior even during a single coaching session.

The first of the life coach tips is to look at these needs on 2 different axises. On the first axis is: Certainty vs. Variety. People who are primarily driven by Certainty are generally introverted, and like to move at a slow pace. They want to feel safe and assured. On the other side of the scale, are the people who variety driven. They are generally extroverted, and are looking for variety and a fast pace.

The second axis is: Love & Connection vs. Significance. People who are driven by the need for Love & Connection have a strong people focus. People who are being driven by the need to feel Significance are generally direct and think in a linear fashion (1 + 1 = 2, or ‘Just give me the steps, 1,2,3!’). They are task and results focused.

If you are to become a success coach who can motivate anyone, you need to realize how everything a person does is related to getting a need met. Sometimes more than one need can get met at the same time. This is one of the big life coach tips. Why won’t your clients follow through with their goal to quit smoking? They get stressed, and want Certainty. Your clients get a lot of Certainty in knowing they can get a “quick fix” by lighting up a cigarette. They are meeting a need by continuing to smoke.

Imagine you have become a success coach for the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, and this client is chronically late (90% of the time). What life coach tips do you have for him? Maybe he is getting a lot of significance by showing up late.  Having “big” problems that come up and keep him from getting to places on time could feed his ego. Maybe he needs to see that there are other

ways to get significance?  If you can show him that getting this need met by being late may be keeping him from connecting deeply in some of his relationships. This might be affecting his friendships.  This pattern could be keeping him from meeting his friends needs for love & connection at a deeper level.

What if you were to become a success coach for Donald Trump? Sure, he’s very Significance driven. But do you think he might need some coaching around getting some of his needs for Love & Connection met at a deeper level without giving up that significance?

What about those people who have such a problem with clutter that their house is a fire safety hazard? They tell you they really want to get things clean, but they keep putting more clutter in their yard? Is their clutter a vehicle for significance or variety? You bet! You can offer life coach tips for this type of person when you understand the motivations behind their actions and behaviors.

Whatever patterns of behavior people use the most is an indicator of which needs are primary. The key is to become a success coach who can help them balance their needs, and get all of their needs met at a higher level.

With a few life coach tips, your clients can become aware of how their overused vehicles are not taking them where they want to be after all. Then they will be motivated to change their behavior so they can really get what they want.
